Craft in Malaysia

 Assalamualaikum..

Of all the crafts, i like batik painting. Batik painting is a wax-resist technique that was first used in Indonesia many centuries ago. It is also very popular in Malaysia. At the crafts centre in Kuala Lumpur many visitors come to do batik painting. They come from all over the world.

There are four basic stages in producing a batik painting. They are waxing, dyeing, scraping and ironing. These basic stages are quite simple. However, the skill comes not only in the intricate mixing, but in the complicated color work. Each successive color is placed on top of another , and thus altered by the one before.

The first step in producing a batik painting is to draw an outline of the design on paper using a black felt-tip pen. Then the motif is copied on a piece of the cotton cloth. Usually a white piece of cloth is used. In the outline we should decide the colors to be used in each area.

Area of the design that are intended to remain white are covered with a thin layer of hot wax using tjanting; a traditional batik wax pen.then a fabric is dyed a different color. The areas which are covered with the hot wax will resist the dye. This process of waxing and dyeing can be repeated as many times in a single picture, depending on the motif. The wax can be cracked to allow subsequent colors to seep through to create the delicate tracery of fine lines that is so characteristic of fine batik.
After all the colors have been applied, most of the wax is remove by scraping and ironing. There are certain techniques to scrap and iron your painting.

Batik is the best craft in Malaysia that i choosed.
